Rice Krispy Treats

I usually make these once a year for the big family campout. But for the first time I made them just to make them (thanks to the many extra bags of marshmallows I inherited after the family campout). How else do you use up marshmallows? I don't know what else to use them for besides hot chocolate and rice krispy treats. Leave me a comment if you have other ideas for marshmallow usage.

They were a hit with the kids and I forgot how easy they are so I guess we'll have to make them more often. Nothing special, so if you want to ramp up your rice krispy treats look here and here. Or here.

This is just the plain old recipe right off the box.

3 Tbs. butter
4 cups mini marshmallows or 1 package (10 oz.) regular marshmallows (about 40)
6 cups Rice Krispies

Melt butter and marshmallows completely, then stir in cereal to coat evenly. Press into greased pan with a greased spatula or waxed paper and cool.

Cut into 2 inch squares. Best served same day.

Don't forget about S'mores! We recently stocked up on a bunch of marshmallows too, so I need to go and get some graham crackers and chocolate so we can make some microwave s'mores! We'll probably be making a lot of rice krispie treats too!

It is great to hear from you. I have tried to find you so many times, I am glad you found me.
On the rice krispie note, I have a friend who puts NERDS in hers, and says that they are fantastic.
I am going to e mail you.

Why do we always forget about these? I am making them tomorrow in honor of you, Whitney. The girls will be thrilled.

And you can make rocky road brownies, or have you had the Hardcastle's brownies with melted marshmallows and then chocolate frosting on top? Or you could use them to potty train somebody. Or dip them in melted chocolate. Or make rocky road ice cream. When life gives you marshmallows. . .

Whit....Look at you being such a suzie homemaker! I am so glad that you said hello on my little blog! I love your recipes and they totally make my mouth salivate. It's really hard to look at it while I'm working because I get quite the stares from people when there is slobber all over my desk!

Liz, indoor smores are my favorite. They're like rice krispy treats but with chocolate chips and golden grahams.

Hi Kacey! We'll talk soon. I think my husband and kids would go bananas with nerds in their rice krispy treats. I bet they look really fun too.

Emily, thankfully we are not in the potty training stage right now. Can I get a hallelujah?

Meghan, don't let this fool you into thinking I have homemaking skills. This is mostly an attempt to make dinner time easier for me. What should I make for dinner? Hmm, maybe I should go scan the blog for ideas....and then I might as well check my email while I'm right here, then check a few headlines, see if anyone has posted on their blogs...and then my husband gets home, there's no food ready, and we eat cold cereal for dinner.

I make these TOO often at my house. I love my chocolate version better, but my husband is a plain old rice krispy kind of guy, so that is what I make at least once a month! So yummy though!

Oh I almost forgot. I have made these peanut butter cookie bars with marshmallows and m&m's on top. Then you drizzle some melted choc on top. It is like a peanut butter smore. Very Delightful!!!

We like to cut the rice krispies into bite-size pieces, rather than the traditional square size. I don't know why, but it makes them taste even better!!!
