Lemon Water

This is so good. I love this drink. People think it is plain water with lemon in it because it is clear and looks like water, but it tastes just like lemonade.

1 gallon cold water
2 Tbl. citric acid powder
2 Tbl. lemon extract
1 1/2 - 2 c. sugar

Serve in a punch bowl with lemon slices floating on top and Sonic Drive-in crushed ice. I've also served it at dinner in clear pitchers with a couple of lemon slices in the pitcher. I didn't have the ice so I just made sure it was chilled before I put it in the pitchers.

Thanks to Kaye for the party at her house where I snagged this picture.

I LOVED that drink when I've had it at your house a couple of times. Where would you get the citric acid powder?

I've been looking for a recipe like this! I'm wondering, also, where you get citric acid powder. Probably a dumb question but I've never bought it before...

I know you can buy it here.

It is the craziest thing that I just found your blog. You had sent me a link after our little 201 reunion, and it didn't work, and I forgot to ask for it again, and now I hit a link accidentally and here you are. I am excited. Still no blog for me, but now I can check up on you!!\

Would you happen to know where that container came from? That is beautiful.

Sorry, Ruby. I know Costco sells similar ones. I think the ones they have now are not that big though.

So glad you had this recipe posted, Whitney; I found your blog when Googling for it. Two things to add:

I try to make this a day ahead, and I make extra to freeze to use as "ice". Really frosty with no dilution!

Also, I think most pharmacies carry citric acid. I got mine from a Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market one.

Thanks so much for taking the time to blog--and blog so well!! ;)

P.S. I first had this at a Relief Society function, and Julie Lund, who brought it, called it "Water with a Kick". That name has stuck with it for our family, too. :)

Thank you, thank you for posting this! I've been searching for it and no one I know seems to have it. When I had it at a luncheon, it was called "Perfect Water". (Fact: people think you are really strange if you ask for a Perfect Water recipe.) I'm so glad I found it in time for my sister's baby shower. :D

Walmart carries citric acid in the brand ball in the canning section. Also most basic co-ops carry it in bulk. It's not very expensive.
